Hutton Parker Foundation Celebrates 45 Years of Giving

When Betty Hutton founded the Hutton Parker Foundation 45 years ago in Santa Barbara, Calif., she never imagined it would grow to more than $100 million and change the lives of tens of thousands of people, the Santa Barbara Independent reports.

"We consider it a privilege to support people and organizations that represent what is best about our community," says Sue Parker, executive vice president of the foundation, which was founded by Hutton's niece.

"Today we honor those leaders of nonprofits and philanthropy who do just that, through their passion, creativity, and effectiveness."

Since its founding, the foundation, which is run by Parker's sons, has given more than $100 million to local nonprofits, per a press release.

Among the organizations the foundation has helped: the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara, which received a $2 million grant last year to expand its after-school programs.

The organization also helped the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Barbara County buy a new playground and buy equipment for its after-school programs, as well as provide scholarships for high school students.
